Although modern art isn't exactly my thing, I have to admit that the Tate Modern has some remarkable spaces for displaying art on a grand scale. The recent extension, in particular, exudes a sense of post-apocalyptic desolation - moody, minimalist and unapologetically harsh. Yet it effectively allows the art to take centre stage and communicate its message. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I appreciated the free collection. It is definitely worth a visit.
